Calgary has an extensive network of bike paths that can take you all over the city of Calgary. Biking is not only a great form of exercise, but it is a fun and exciting way to explore new and interesting places. If you are looking for some great spots to explore, we’ve found some of the top bike paths and bike rental places in Calgary.

The Bow River Pathway

The Bow River Pathway takes bikers from Edworthy Park at the west end, through downtown Calgary to Pearce Estate Park at the east end. It’s one of the most popular bike paths because it passes many of Calgary’s interesting neighborhoods, including Kensington, downtown’s Eau Clair and East Village, and historic Inglewood. Inglewood is filled with restaurants and shops, so it is a great place to take a break from your travels and have a cold drink and some lunch. Or, if you are looking for a place to picnic, there are some great parks along the way as well.

Confederation Park

This is an easier bike route this is a great place to bring kids. The manicured green lawns are perfect for picnic stops or to feed the ducks in the park. This paved trail is only 4km long, making it an easy and enjoyable ride for the entire family.

Wildwood/Bridgeland

This quiet inner-city neighborhood takes you past popular points of interest such as the Zoo, Chinatown, Eau Claire Market and Prince’s Island Park. We suggest stopping for a sweet treat with the family at Lics or Extreme Been Café.

Beaver Dam Flats

True to its name, Beaverdam Flats is home to beavers who have built their home in the area. The Beaver Dam area borders the Bow River both north and south of Glenmore Trail. While biking in this area, you’ll spot waterfowl, birds, mammals, plants, and bald eagles, making it a fun adventure for the entire family. There are also places to stop and picnic by a fire pit and playgrounds for the kids to play.

Glenmore Reservoir

If you are looking for a woodsy adventure, the bike path at the Glenmore Reservoir is the spot for you. Surrounded by lush landscaping and beautiful trees, this pathway is beautiful. We highly suggest visiting the Weaselhead area on the west end of the reservoir for a particularly beautiful surprise.

Nose Hill Park

If you are looking to escape the city for some peace and quiet, Noise Hill Trail may be just what you are looking. Noise Hill is great for people looking for an escape because it doesn’t feel like you are in a city. The trail winds through a field and you are often unable to see the city around you.
